Prayers

Christmas Eve Prayer
On this holiest of nights, O God, may we hear again the Story of
stories. May we sing with the angels, be dazzled with the
shepherds, and be drawn close to the holy family huddled in a
stable. Let us receive again the newborn King into our hearts
and lives. Amen.

Eternal God, “We do not live to ourselves and we do not die to
ourselves. If we live, it is for the Lord that we live; and if
we die, it is for the Lord we die. So whether we live or die, we
belong to the Lord…” Amen. (Memorial Service Liturgy, Moravian
Book of Worship, pg. 177)

Our God, who always was and who will forever be, we were but
dust and shall return to dust. Your gift of salvation gives us
the hope of being cradled in your love for eternity. For this,
we are truly grateful. Amen.Breathe your power into the hearts of your people, O Holy
Spirit. The world is filled with the lonely and needy. Grant
hope and comfort in the dark corners of our world. May they know
we are Christians by our love. Amen.

God of yesterday, today, and forever, may we always remember the
blessings we have received in the past, celebrate the joy of living each
day, and anticipate your being with us tomorrow in this life or the
next. Amen.
