Monica Ferris - Framed in Lace
I finished the second of the Betsy books last night - Framed in Lace. I also really enjoyed this one, which was also about a murder (well, actually, two murders). For a small town in Minnesota, they sure have a lot of murders… I enjoyed the back story of the town, though once again, I felt like most of the characters were very wooden. In the last book, the author would occasionally try to write from the point of view of a character other than Betsy, and I found it distracting and annoying. The view change didn’t make those characters seem any more real, on the contrast, they made them feel more one-track and wooden. In this book, thankfully, the author stuck to just Betsy’s viewpoint. Overall, this was a quick, enjoyable read, and once again Betsy figures out the murderer due to her newfound knowledge of needlework.
